Re: Interview: "The Stampers Had Been Frustrated Working For Nintendo" - Xbox Co-Founder Ed Fries On The Deal That Shook The Industry

@N00BiSH it does feel like this game has become nearly forgotten over the past 5/10 years. It was pretty popular at the time, not a mega hit, people were talking about it fondly for years afterward. I would think the potential audience for a game like this is larger than ever now.

Viva Pinata feels like a prime example of how Microsoft totally fails to capitalize on their own back catalog.

I do personally think Rare would have released more memorable games over the past 20 years if they stayed with Nintendo, but I don't base that on anything other than my belief that Microsoft is particularly terrible at managing their acquisitions.

@slider1983 Seems like the trouble they've created for themselves is significantly worse than a Google search and an email would have been. No, odds are they were just trying to cut corners, save some money, and get away with it.

We should absolutely expect developers to perform their due diligence in such a simple area. They accepted money from the publisher and they expect to accept money from players. No need to make excuses for them — they chose to suck.

Re: Star Fox Artist Was "Shocked" By Panzer Dragoon And "Surprised" Sega Got Moebius Involved

30 years! Wow. Glad to see it get some love from another developer. The comparison of Star Fox and Panzer Dragoon was always interesting to me, like a microcosm defining what sets Sega's flavor of games apart from Nintendo's.

I wouldn't mind if that Zwei remake stays missing, however. Forever's PD1 remake failed to capture the atmosphere of the original and the art design felt cheap and occasionally garish. It left me feeling like a new generation was being given the wrong impression of the game and missing what made the original special.

Re: Crush 40 Singer Suing Sega Over Ownership Of Sonic Adventure 2's 'Live & Learn'

Regardless of motive, the fact that Gioeli feels confident enough to pursue this speaks volumes of Sega's legal practices at the time.

It's just another example to join Ken Penders's claim for ownership of some of the US comic book characters and whatever legal nightmare caused them to lock up Sonic 3 for decades before finally removing Michael Jackson's music.
