Taito and Famitsu have announced a livestream later this month to reveal new software for the Egret II Mini.

This livestream will take place on August 27th, 2026, at 8 PM JST (Japan time) and will again be hosted by the voice actress Miyake Marie, with the Famitsu editor Dedeo, the Egret II Mini producer Tetsuo Egawa, and Kenichi "Kibangelion" Ishiguro from the Institute of Game Culture Conservation (IGCC) also slated to appear.

Released in 2022, the Egret II Mini is a tabletop console modelled after the Taito arcade cabinet of the same name, which launched in 1996, and features its own screen and controls.

Initially shipping with a collection of 40 built-in games, Taito has continued to release new software for the machine over the last few years via compilations of games distributed on SD cards, often partnering with the Japanese publication Famitsu to reveal the latest arcade titles coming to the tiny machine.

The majority of the games in these collections have been developed or published by Taito, as part of the Arcade Memories series, but the company has also started releasing titles from other companies, too, such as Data East and Technos Japan, under a new Arcade Collection moniker.

According to the Livestream announcement, this new software addition (whatever it may be) will expand the machine's library up to a "cumulative 100 titles," though exactly which titles will be included remains a bit of a mystery for now.
