Another aspect people are missing here is that this tweet was definitely AI generated. The "Not only X, but also Y" pattern, the unwarranted appeal to a vague broader legacy, the list of three... These are clear markers of LLM writing, outside of the obviously incorrect information.
I really enjoyed reading this article. Sorry for all the commenters either missing the point or trying to defend a comment not worth defending.
"did more than make gaming portable" - implies that the PSP made gaming portable in the first place.
Of all the people to give grace to, the head of the USA dept of education is not one of them. Maybe she should focus on, I don't know, improving the educational standards of the states instead of which portable gaming device revolutionized entertainment the most.
When I finally got a GBA as a kid, I think I spent the most time playing GB and GBC games on it. I remember putting a lot of hours in Pokemon Blue, Crystal, and Zelda: Link's Awakening on my purple (indigo?) GBA - with a little plug in worm light, of course.
In fact, the first "GBA" game I remember owning was NES Classics - Dr Mario, and that's not much of a GBA game, is it? Thankfully I later got Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Golden Sun, Pokemon Leaf Green, and Zelda: Minish Cap. Those are still some of the greatest games ever in my mind.
A fun one I remember fondly is Mario Pinball Land. I can't tell you much about the game, but I remember it entertaining me on a few long car rides.
Loved the game on my DS way back when, and I've played it many times on many different systems since then (WiiWare, 3DS, Switch, Android), so you'd think I'd be done with it by now, but... I did just pick up a TrimUI Brick, and that might be the perfect way to play this demake.
I love that they're making these controllers, but I can't decide if it's worth getting one (or the official Nintendo one either). Using an analog stick in place of C buttons is horrible. But I don't think there's enough N64 games I'd play that would justify it. I think it would shine for the Zeldas and Mario 64, but there's not much else I would play that relies on them too heavily. It's hard to say it's worth it for a small handful of games.
I mean hey, I bought a SN30 Pro back when they still had the SNES-like design mostly for Super Mario World, but at least it had dual analog sticks and worked great as a backup switch controller or for some android tablet gaming here and there.
Wild World was mine! I played lots of Nintendo games on GameCube, but never heard of Animal Crossing at the time.
Loved Wild World, but in hindsight, it's sad how few holidays and events it had. When I got City Folk on Wii, that's when I started playing a lot more with friends.
I hate everything about it. Last gen consoles used to be cheap, and even more so for consoles the generation before the last gen. Now everything's artificially inflated and no one is better off for it.
I know we only got the DS versions in the west with the arranged soundtrack, but those themes and melodies and funky rhythms have stuck with me since I first played the games. Absolutely love Phoenix Wright music.

Re: 2026 Continues To Be An Awful Year For Retro Handheld Fans, As AYANEO Hints At More Price Hikes
Ayaneo devices were already too expensive anyway!
I got a TrimUI Brick not that long ago and it's pretty much perfect for everything retro I need.
Re: This Modular Marvel Can Be A Controller, Horizontal Handheld And Tabletop 'TATE' Device
I love it! Now create an optional keyboard attachment so we can program PICO-8 games on the handheld and I'm sold!!

Re: Prices Of Second-Hand Nintendo 3DS Consoles Spike Online
I got two n3DSXLs from Japan on eBay at the beginning of 2024 at around $200 each. Definitely more than worth it, and easy to region swap to English.
Not sure if the Japanese consoles are still cheaper, but even at that time (a year ago now), US handhelds were already approaching $300 and more.
Re: Guide: Best Tactical RPGs - 20 Turn-Based Strategy Classics You Should Play
Disgaea is so good and shouldn't be overlooked at all.
I always heard of the series, didn't give it much attention, then finally this year played the first on PSP and it's a blast

Re: The 8BitDo 64 Controller Is Set To Get A Colourful New Update Next Year
I love this!
I wish they could bring back the proper SNES colorways for their SN30 line
