@RupeeClock Well be surprised because I honestly didn't. But at the time I mostly played the SMS/GG port and only got the MD original in 98-99. So obviously no one was talking about it anymore. I'm surprised and ashamed that I haven't learned about since though.
@Zebetite If they won't do it, we have to take care of it ourselves.

@Thad Barks should've done what Don Rosa did later with Scrooge McDuck and hide stuff (D.U.C.K sounds cool, wonder if it has been done before) around as a signature.
@Thad I think it's part of the marketing : "if you're not with us, you're a loser". So if you try to bully people who.... oppose the group you want to join, you're proving you're loyalty, and that you're hip and cool.
@Thad We could talk about the word but the idea behind is to be insulting, bully people into using the useless stuff they're using, and feel superior to someone.
@PolterGhost When, not if, things go wrong with vibe-coded slop, the prompter won't solve it, they don't even know how to do it (no one really can fix slop anyway.) If they could, they would have done the work themselves.
@TinPlanetRobot It's especially enraging/funny when you know that even Analogue, a long time ago that is, thanked emulator devs because they wouldn't exist without them.
@Thad I completely agree on the quality of the..."port". But it seems to me that a lot of the complaints in the FPGA community are not about the LLM part but about using MAME.
LLM generated anything is always low quality slop that shouldn't exist. But in this case, it useful for one thing : showing FPGA bro's ignorance.
MAME's goal is to be as accurate as possible. Some "cores" were made by destroying boards to make sure the emulation was accurate. It can be said with 100% certainty that at least some, if not all, arcade cores on Mister were made using MAME's team's research. MAME exists solely to preserve those cabinets and attacking, even indirectly, MAME's accuracy is just insulting to game preservation. But some of the blame rests on crappy (and some times downright illegal) MAME forks, like in Retro arch, that are in no way as good as the original.
@Thad That article is clearly biased against LLMs, a LLM would never write something like that, we can't deny LLMs are superior anymore. (BTW, your personal website has some nice stuff if I might say so.)
LLMs are as biased as the training data used. Since all the sets used so far have some biases, every single LLM available today has biases. But unlike people, they can't think and say "I will try to be more neutral". Do people try to avoid their own biases? Not necessarily obviously but they do have the ability to do it. And at least human biases are kinda consistent, therefore easier to discern.
I want to read human-made (or any other conscious being really) articles and books. And listen to human-made music. And watch human-made shows. And play human-made games.
But I know that it five minutes someone will comment "I don't care if it's made by a LLM" and that makes me sad and scared for the future.
Art is already lost in a sea of easily forgettable and meaningless entertainment (don't get me wrong, entertainment is nice and should be enjoyed but not at the expense of something else) and LLMs are making it even worse. And the same can be said about reliable information. We give a platform to everyone as if everything should be shouted on every street corner (no, your flat earther opinion doesn't have the same value as millenia of scientific researches) and now, we even have unreliable software publishing, pretty much automatically, unreliable things that get picked up by other softwares and put up on the front page of the most visited websites on the planet with no safeguard or verifications.
In the immortal words of Rupert Giles, "the earth is doomed".
@crimcram Except that many (how many is hard to know) people are praising the LLL translation, saying it's good enough, and at least they can experience the game (even though it's not really experiencing the work as indented) and many more won't even know they're playing a badly done translation. I get why it's getting to the translation teams.
"Stop with that fearmongering! It's just like someone being inspired by someone else!
Sure it's pretty much a copy of another person's creation. And it's not original at all. And it's because of how the software works. And it has nothing in common with inspiration.
But it's fearmongering because of...reasons! The genie is out anyway."
I worked for Lenovo for a year (in Europe, PC division), knowing how they operate, it's 100% sure they knew and didn't care about it until they got bad PR and the fear of being sued by a bigger company.
@Uberfish EULA's can't infringe on your rights (maybe in the US but not in the EU for example.) You can make a backup of your games, you can't share them and in some countries, you can't break DRM/copy protection to do it.
@Martin_H @Broosh @Prollo on 3DS, you don't need to use twilight Menu, you can use NDS forwarder. The DSPico is still useful for quickly trying new games though.
