If you see art as a commodity, it doesn't matter where it comes from and it's possible to compare stuff the same way you compare cars or TVs.

Not a lot but yep. Even imported a GP32 and a Tapwave Zodiac (import fees were not a great surprise.)
But that was as a teenager.
As a kid, I used imported games without knowing it. The local video rental place had a few SNES games that were rented with a special adapter. I understood much later why.

Disney has a deal with OpenAI (and tested some stuff in their parks).
DreamWorks' cofounder started a company centered around LLM slop.
Ubisoft and EA go without saying.
Even if it's only to sound cool and hype to the shareholders, that still countless movies, shows, games, and books made with LLM coming out in the next few years. And that's the best case scenario.

And even with a massive lawsuit, I don't think it's going to be enough.

@Bot_Bot_69 The LLM industry is a multi billion dollars industry (that, so far, hasn't made a single cent in profits but still) and the big IP holders (in games, movies, everything) are all on board with it, I don't see them fighting back against the copyright violation.

And it goes further than that. Because "LLM are the greatest thing ever and if you don't use it you're a loser who hates technology", because are embracing the slop. How many local businesses are using the same crappy flyers format that looks horrible? How many people are using chatbots to write emails or worse, help teach their kids (even though researches have shown they're unreliable)?

If big companies and little people don't fight back, what hope is there left?

Awhile back, a bassist I like tried to get SunoAi to make a bass focused song. The thing couldn't do it because it didn't have (enough) training data to copy a bass solo (or anything bass heavy) and so couldn't do it.
Sentient beings create, LLMs copy.

So you pay $300 plus a monthly subscription.
And now, you'll get to pay a monthly subscription to play games you might already own.
What's next? You get a small percentage every time someone buys a unit from you?

I'd get a few games a year, always used copies and I was already happy with that.

There's this Dutch person, Kenney, who's been making games assets for over a decade ( https://kenney.nl/ ), with no gen"AI" and has made thousands of them. Plus a few games and softwares, mostly solo.
But the CEO of a software company is saying it would be impossible to do for an actual game company to do it.

Anyone who has seriously tried to create something, be it music, literature, video games, painting, furniture, anything creative really, knows the difference between copying and being inspired, even if they didn't succeed.
That's probably the line between pro Gen"AI" and anti Gen"AI".
