Chronic Concepts has opened orders for a delightful-looking device that replicates the coin-operated slot of classic arcade cabinets, allowing players to use real coins to activate credits in an array of arcade emulators.
The TinyBrights Insert Coin Cube Gen 2 is a slick and stylish box that uses USB-A connectivity to hook up to PC, Mac, smartphones, and other devices via adapted wiring.
Once connected and configured, pushing the classic "Return Coin" button will light up the Coin Cube, while inserting a U.S. Quarter (or the included token) triggers one of 15 selectable sound effects while simultaneously adding a credit to your arcade ROM of choice.
Coins can be instantly returned through the front chute, or can be left inside the coin as a mini piggy bank. Additionally, users can customise their own sound effects, adjusting the volume and brightness as best suits their setup.
Available in four colours, the Coin Cube is compatible with RetroPie and MAME, fully configurable from Chronic Concepts' web app.
The TinyBrights Insert Coin Cube Gen 2 is available now from the Chronic Concepts store, priced at $29.99 (€26), not including shipping or any potential customs charges. In October, the manufacturer will release a mounting unit and a wiring harness, allowing the cube easier connectivity to arcade cabinet setups.
