Re: "I Still Think The Virtual Boy Was Probably Just Too Ahead Of Its Time" - Japanese Developers On Nintendo's Most Infamous Flop

@Sketcz Yeah, if you reverse the stand, it can kind of grip into your armpits (weird, I know), then you pivot the unit down to your face. It does work. Maybe use a pillow.

Also, on the power adapter, I have an original, and the power cable is exactly the same as an OEM SNES power cord. Of course, you also need the attachement that hooks on in place of the battery pack, which might be harder to come by.

I just want to address one thing about playing VB lying on your back. I've had one from way back, and I would do that, however I did use the stand. I woul dput it on backward, so the legs would fit around my neck, then fold the head-unit way downward. That gave it some support, though it was still resting against me. I did find that this was the best way to play with the device.

Re: Flashback: Remembering The Glory Days Of Wii-Exclusive Ports

It was always best when they did teh Wii game as something unique. Ghostbusters for one is a great game, but i tnever would have been a good experience if they had trued to squeeze the HD version on there. Dead Space: Extraction was also a great way to get the franchise onto Wii with a game that played to the system's strengths. Force Unleashed is another good example too - in some ways it's better than the HD counterpart.

Re: The Making Of: Killer Instinct, Nintendo's Street Fighter And Mortal Kombat Killer

BrianJL

Interesting read on the history of Killer Instinct, but what's with all the Cruis'n USA shade? I mean, yeah, the N64 port wasn't the best, but the arcade version was well-liked and spawned numerous sequels.

Speaking of ports, the SNES KI really is quite good. Sure, it was no arcade version, but if it were just a stand-alone SNES game, it's a real stand-out. Impressive work!

Re: Flashback: Did Anyone Actually Win Castlevania III's Trip To Transylvania?

BrianJL

I remember that advertisement! I love how the trip was described as "radical" - ah, the 80's! Well, 1990, but close enough.

I never entered because a trip to Transylvania wasn't very appealing to me anyway, but I probably still have magazines or comics with the uncut coupon in them. Legally speaking, I am not sure they could jsut cancel the whole thing, but it may be that the alternate cash prize was awarded with little fanfare.
