Re: 'Warhammer Classics' Brings 7 Beloved PC Titles Back From The Dead

personally I would say SOTHR and Dark Omen are the most faithful adaptations of tabletop Warhammer Fantasy ever, and well worth a look if you're ok with incredibly difficult games that take skill, luck and patience to avoid a Pyrrhic victory spiral (and a very dated interface on SOTHR). Controlling a mercenary army gives it a very different vibe to the Total War stuff, for example.

Final Liberation is likewise a very faithful adaptation of the very underrated tabletop game 'Epic 40,000' but sadly focuses on ONLY the Imperium and Orks - you can see in the unit viewer that expansions were planned if it sold better. Hilarious FMV sequences too!

Rites of War is Panzer General 2 in a very gaudy 40k coat of paint, you'll know from that sentence if it's for you

Chaos Gate is very much like the first 2 X-Com games but, unfortunately, with everything between the missions stripped out entirely.

Mark of Chaos is a very bland RTS that there's no real reason to play between the older games and Total Warhammer.

some of these are new to Steam and some more of them are 'back from the dead' on Steam (i.e they've been sold on it before but had been delisted) but none are newly available again.

GOG has had some of these for many, many years - I think Dark Omen about 4 months ago was the most recently made available (it was published by EA and presumably in rights hell as a result, as the game it's a sequel to with a different publisher had been available for years)
