@TrollOfWar In the same place. It's good for first handheld owners like us. It has been long enough. Bluetooth for headphones, too. Maybe, they could have gotten an extra cart slot while keeping the price down to give extra incentive for EXP owners.
My first reaction is that it is missing the cool retro look of the previous handhelds. That's probably my biggest disappointment. Also TATE mode has to use the analog stick, not dpad. People will complain about the lack of features but $199. with cart is the right price point. Not paying more with Switch 2 and Steam Deck around.
With the price of components, this will combine skus in 2026. VS and EXP lines retired. A handheld with bigger screen that can be docked to TV. Hopefully, an OLED version as well. They may also introduce some subscription service or digital store but not bettting on it yet. Tariffs and delivery have all been problems for the company. It could bring costs down.
Love the hardware, not the games. These games have all been sold to me before and recently. How about games that really take advantage of the controls? So we have a few 5200 games to take advantage of the num pad. Where is Star Raiders? Arkanoid? Marble Madness? 720? This needs a digital store. I'll be waiting to see how the memory card can expand the game library.
I was down for the Taito Alpha till I realized I would need to double dip on games, getting the Taito carts. I really think they should include the 2 Taito carts like they did with the VS. They also restrict cart buyers by making Puzzle Bobble and Cadash exclusive to the Alpha. Kinda screwed both ways.
Although Metal Slug games are amusing and visually astounding, they just get too crazy as the series progresses. Metal Slug 3 is just too much of getting your teeth kicked in, despite how entertaining it is. Metal Slug and Metal Slug 2 are great places to start, imo. I sampled all these games, and a nice curation.
I was on board to get their next handheld, EXP-R, with hopefully some improvements. On the fence if I should get their existing black EXP-R while still in stock. Hopefully we get clarity and more info on the hardware planned this year. We did get a picture of it in their latest showcase.
@kirby2000 The Atari games never had mouse support. That is the obvious rebuttal. I am hoping for Ghox! The press release says they are working on improvements in future firmware. It may also be telling that this is for future collections in the pipeline.

Re: Review: Neo Geo Arcade 2 (Evercade) - Garou Alone Makes This A Near-Essential Buy
@romanista I would love a sports cart. Alas, it seems Evercade is set on a mix of genres in these collections.
Re: The Atari Gamestation Go Launches Next Month, Costs $180 - And You Can Pre-Order It Now
@Zybex242 A paddle controller for Linux/PC would be great. They exist in small channels but would like a mainstream one. It would drive more support.

Re: One Of The Best Arcade Platformers Of The Last Few Years Is Getting A Sequel
Can't wait! Looks like Son of Dodo is a new enemy...and the UFO from Space Invaders? It seems like Baker Billy Burns is a villain.

@StandardMario An embarrassment to humanity and democracy. What ego-driven lies and executive orders have happened today?
