Can confirm. Granted, Russia in the 90s was somewhat of a different beast: we got an NES clone named Dendy 10 years after NES released in the West and it was crazy popular. I know now that SNES was officially sold here, yet I've never heard of it growing up. Too expensive in those hard times, I guess. For all the friends around me the logical progression was NES -> Mega Drive -> PS1 -> PS2/Xbox and so on. Also, PC was king back then. I was reading gaming magazines by then, so I really wanted to try Nintendo games, but I know literally no one who owned a GameCube. It was only around 2009 that I've saved enough money and bought a Wii, so I could try out some current gen Nintendo games.
Man, I, too, thought the crank was used for recharging. A missed opportunity. Would be so cool if it was used both for gameplay, and then charging in some special recharge mode.
Looks great, though. Reminds me of what Teenage Engineering is doing for music devices.
