As a huge Taito fan I have to say these evercade game choices are a bit of a letdown for me. Even the alpha bartop.

RayForce, Darius Gaiden, Gekirindan, Metal Black, Gun Frontier... anything really from their shmup output would perfect (especially for a device with built in TATE mode!)

N64 core is already working incredibly well on DE10, so what does this mean... 3DO? Jag? Toaplan V2 maybe?

Even the Mister FPGA NES core isn't 100% accurate...

I Actually didn't hate the PD1 remake. It was unnecessary and not a scratch on the original, but it was playable.

But good lord did I hate the HotD remakes. They were godawful.

@slider1983 Euro shmup is a term used to describe sets of mechanics used by europoean shmup developers that are somewhat counter to classic shmup design (especially from Japan) and are generally looked down upon by arcade gamers. These include but aren't limited to:

• random clusters of enemies
• RNG spawns
• slow movement
• momentum based movement
• slow rate of fire
• shops and upgrades to power up your ship
• long levels
• repetitve patterns

But they did ask about interest in reprinting previous volumes.

I learned my lesson when I almost missed out on volume 2, now I just pre order the instant they are up on Amazon japan.

Hmm... A (sort of) competitor to the Egret II Mini... But without any Darius games, no rotating screen... Hell, barely any shmups at all!

Still not sure if its worth it compared to the E2M, but I do like the look and feel of the cab itself.

Most freeplay arcades are "barcades" so the cover is just a cherry on top of beverage and food sales.

Running it as a straight up free play arcade is a bold move. Looks like its not paying off.

I'm relieved its coming to Playstation. The Switch 2 still doesn't have analogue triggers, so it will be a seriously hampered version of this game.

The home console versions, while cool, are pale imitations of the arcade IMO.

They're nice to have, but they aren't essential in an "origins" collection.

I'm sure the next Gradius collection will include them along with Gaiden, IV, etc.

Not just Europe. Huge swathes of Asia are ignored when Americans are discussing video game history. Hell, even the way Japan is discussed ignores huge segments of the market (PC, anything arcade after SFII).

House of the Dead Remake was completely unplayable and remains that way. Spat in the face of longtime HotD fans.

The AI box art is a little obnoxious. Too bad, game seems neat.

I love it. I grabbed the game in Taito Milestones 3 (highly recommended) and as usual 90s Taito there's tons of easter eggs.

Metal Black does a similar gimmick to this as well.

They need to bring these ports into their own collection that isn't tied to a Yakuza game.

I have nothing against Yakuza (I love the series) but I'd like an option to buy these separately as each Yakuza game is expensive and it'd be silly to buy games just for these ports...
