@Peteykins what part of the technology hadn't caught up to the idea do you not get?
Whe something is "Ahead of its time" it doesn't mean it was future technology. It means the idea was ahead of when it became popular/successful/possible.
In this case the idea was a VR console. Which is something companies are trying to make work now. MEANING, that the VR headsets are essentially the same as the virtualboy except they are obviously far better thanks to modern technology.
Therefore, it was ahead of its time. The technology to make the virtualboy good simply didn't exist back then.
@Peteykins it was poorly designed but that doesn't make it not "Ahead of it's time".
That phrase also applies to ideas attempted before the technology was ready.
Really you only have to see all of the VR headsets on the market now to see the virtual boy was ABSOLUTELY ahead of its time.
Anyone trying to point and laugh at Nintendo for trying the virtual boy just want to criticize others.
Nintendo's mistake was largely that they pushed forward with the idea too early, they should have realized before release that technology had not caught up to what they were trying to do.
I mean just imagine if the VirtualBoy was released now instead of then, I don't mean with all the red, I mean if they did the same idea but modern tech.
At the very least it would probably be like the oculus or meta quest or whatever.

This looks like a mix of overcooked and PlateUp.
I'll consider this.
