It's just been announced that we're getting a new Ace Attorney game next year.
Rather than a brand new entry, however, it appears this new game will instead be a VR recreation of the existing title Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies for Meta platforms (Meta VR Glasses, Meta Quest 3/3S, Quest Pro, and Quest 2).
This is something I imagine fans of the series who have been waiting for a new entry will inevitably have some objections to, and judging from the initial reactions to Wario64's post, it appears I'm right, with people already posting memes and comments about how unnecessary this new take is. Still, as an Ace Attorney fan myself, I'd be curious enough to try this new version, as a novelty more than anything.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, just in case you're not up to speed on your Ace Attorney history, is the fifth mainline entry in the series, released in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS, and takes place roughly a year after the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney during the "dark age of law". The game features three playable protagonists — Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, and Wright's new assistant and attorney-in-training, Athena Cykes — and begins with one of the courtrooms literally being blown apart, leading to the very first case: the defence of Athena's childhood friend, Juniper Woods.
The game was previously remastered as part of the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy for a variety of platforms (Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC), but is now set for a VR reimagining from the developer/publisher Amata K.K.
This will include the ability to explore 3D crime scenes and examine evidence with hand-tracking and motion controls, call out to witnesses with your own voice to shout "OBJECTION!", present evidence with your own hands, and more.
