DomKid, the developer behind Castlevania fan game Maria Renard's Revenge, is working on a title for the Commodore Amiga which is inspired by some of Mickey Mouse's most iconic video game adventures (thanks, Indie Retro News).
Forest Of Illusion is currently in beta and is being built using the powerful Scorpion Engine. It is described as an entirely new outing inspired by Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Mickey Mania – three of the iconic mascot's most celebrated '90s games.
While the game is certainly very early in development, it's already looking promising.

Castle of Illusion is one of my favorite games, especially on the Genesis/Mega Drive. It is a wonderful platformer. Think I'll play it tonight...
Well, this is interesting: The resolution looks like it's actually 256x224 or similar, which I think is not typical for Amiga if I recall correctly, but it would make this perfect for a SNES port. I didn't see the Amiga bit immediately and actually though this was a SNES game for a second.
You could use the 8bpp 256-colour mode for that lovely title screen (here's the quality that mode can achieve on SNES https://youtu.be/cEfJybDpSOI?t=23) but I'd have the logo overlaid using the second background layer and just make it look nicer and more classic "Disney" style in general, for a little extra flair (something like this https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/9/9f/Screenshot_2015-11-17-17-06-14_%288%29_kindlephoto-6488622.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160228135949 or this https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/8/8d/SnowWhite1937.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20121209220205). Use Mode 1 for the two background layers (maybe even add a third layer for extra parallax in some places), and the HUD can even be properly overlaid [rather than in a black bar] using the bottom section of the third background layer too. Etc.
Note: Given the more limited screen view here, I'd actually make the camera dynamic so it adjusts and pushes further ahead of the player in the direction they're facing to show a bit more of the level in front of them, just like these great examples:
https://youtu.be/U8btNneN8ew?t=592 (probably the best execution of a dynamic camera in any 16-bit game)
https://youtu.be/jHqUP5QuFXU?t=119 (an interesting approach that encourages you to move forward rather than background most of the time)
PS. The game looks lovely so far.
Apparently, from what i've read online, the Game is using the Scorpion engine.
