A team of volunteers has released a patch to translate Idea Factory and Yuki Enterprises' Dreamcast title Run=Dim as Black Soul into English.

This marks the first time the turn-based game has been localized into the language from its original Japanese.

Run=Dim as Black Soul is a mech-based strategy game from 2001. Players will talk with their teammates and captain back at base, before selecting their units and engaging in turn-based combat across various battlefields.

The team behind this localization project includes the hackers Rolly and Esper Knight, as well as the translator RafaMGam. All three have worked together over the last couple of years to translate all the dialogue, missions, items, menus, and graphics into English, resulting in a fairly comprehensive language patch.

In addition, there are also some other great changes too, which include:

  • Subtitles on videos
  • Removed loading screens
  • Increased font size in menus
  • Support for real hardware, GDEMU, emulation
  • And Region-Free/VGA support

If you want to download the patch, you should visit the Romhacking.net page. It contains all the relevant links, as well as information on how to download Universal Dreamcast Patcher, which is necessary to apply the patch to your copy of the game. If you're struggling to get to grips with the gameplay, the readme.txt also features some handy tips, which should help you get to grips with it quicker.
