@Razieluigi you seem to be totally right, my bad. In the past a couple of people told me they were using custom camera ROMs and I just thought they replaced the ROM chip with a flashable one. Truth is, I am not that interested on it, did a quick search and found tutorials to use custom ROMs, but I didn't read enough to realize they are to replace whole PCB.
@Razieluigi yes, it's definitively possible, but as I sad it is not an easy process. I cannot help you on that since I haven't done it neither myself. Check those two links I posted above, they should contain the necessary information.
EDIT: This information is wrong, read my post below.
@Sketcz yes, you can do it with Analogue Pocket!
Just create a savestate, that will create a full dump of your cartridge SRAM
Other ways to extract SRAM from a real cartridge are GBxCart RW, GB Operator... and I'm pretty sure there is more compatible hardware around that can do the trick.
Still ROM editing without reflashing has its own benefits. You could just copy the ROM to your flashcard and print your pictures with the custom frames from there.
Also, you can edit the 30 pictures from the B album with the Manager. So you could virtually put 60 pictures (ROM's 30 + SRAM's 30) in a single ROM+SRAM combination in a flashcard, and create your own photo compilations.
And since it would be compatible with Game Boy Printer, you could print them without having to put your Camera cartridge as well.
Not sure if I am the only one who sees its utility, but I love creating my own GB Camera ROMs, sorted by year. It's very cool, and now with the Manager I can have more than 30 pictures, customize the title screen (this is fantastic), set a date to every picture and even print them on the way if needed, without having to carry the whole Camera cartridge (which doesn't fit in my Analogue Pocket case!).
@Sketcz indeed, they did remove everything related to the password screen So I'm injecting the english translation into the japanese ROM, which isn't exactly easy, as the texts are stored separately due to the password screen code (and map) taking up more space. But I'm working on it
Good job! I will always say: hacks like this are true videogame preservation.
This reminds me one of my favorite childhood games: Tiny Toon 2 for Game Boy, which had its password feature also removed. I want to take a look at it sooner or later.

As of ROM editing...
You can reflash your Game Boy Camera ROM. It's not an easy process and probably not everyone can do it, but:
