I still love this game too! I've read some retrospective reviews which put it third in the 16-bit era behind Rondo and Bloodlines but I still find this one to be the most atmospheric and the most fun to play.
Granted it's a little bit easier than most Castlevania games, but the last few stages are hard as hell!
Had no idea Rare had this many games! Also agree with Goldeneye at #1, purely for the impact it had on console FPS games at the time and its legacy today.
Such an interesting article! I always wondered why Donkey Kong wasn't in the game and now I know the answer to that question - thank you! Fingers crossed this can make it to the Switch one day.
I made a profile just to say thanks for this interesting article - I enjoy reading about these lost tidbits of gaming history. Interesting to note that Konami finally did make its own console 26 years later with the TG16 Mini!

Re: SNES RPGs Lufia & Lufia II Are Headed to Modern Platforms In 2027
I've never played these but I've heard Lufia II has one of the all time great RPG plots (or plot twists?) so will be keeping an eye out for this

Still feels unique even today - the graphics haven't held up to modern standards but pretty much every other aspect of the game has.
Re: Game Changer: ActRaiser - The SNES Classic That Signalled The Dawn Of A New Generation
Great write up for one of my fave SNES games! The OST is incredible - I still listen to it as background music at work occasionally.
