As we've covered on the site before, Forever Entertainment's long-delayed remake of the Sega Saturn classic Panzer Dragoon Zwei hasn't exactly gone down well with fans of the series.
Back in 2025, when the game resurfaced after years missing in action, one commenter, for instance, encouraged players to "reject this ugly husk and play the original," and they weren't alone in their criticism, either, with others expressing disappointment with the visuals and stating that the "soul of the game" was missing.
When the first Steam demo was released earlier this year, Forever Entertainment had a perfect opportunity to quiet the naysayers and prove once and for all that it was worthy of working on the remake. But instead, it only made things worse, with the consensus on the demo being that the classic title deserved "much better" than the treatment it was currently receiving.
Since then, I hadn't honestly heard much about the game; that is, until yesterday, when the developer released an updated demo in an attempt to earn back players' trust.
"Dear community," Forever Entertainment wrote in an update on Steam. "Since the previous demo, we have carefully reviewed your feedback and introduced a range of gameplay, visual, animation, and audio improvements.
"Your comments have helped us identify what needed more attention, and we will continue reacting to your suggestions as development progresses. Play the updated demo, experience the changes for yourself, and let us know what you think. Every piece of feedback helps us improve Panzer Dragoon Zwei: Remake."
Looking at the change list, it seems to be pretty extensive; there are new sound effects, new models and animations for the protagonist Lundi and his dragon companion, new and reworked visual effects, and improved destruction effects, among other additions and tweaks. In response to this news, the YouTuber Maximilian Dood offered some encouragement, stating, "This is such an improvement it's nuts," while others called it "night and day" and "much closer to the OG art style."
Whether Forever Entertainment will stick the landing, however, remains to be seen, given the company's reputation for being involved with some fairly shoddy remakes of Sega games in the past.
