Update [Fri 5th May, 2023 12:00 BST]: Strictly Limited Games revealed yesterday on Twitter that the Turrican Ultra Collector's Edition has finally started shipping to those who pre-ordered.
The news comes two years after pre-orders originally opened for the special collector's edition version of the games, and will likely prompt a sigh of relief from those who have had to put up with the various delays. You can see the full tweet from Strictly Limited Games below:
Original Article [Wed 23rd Nov, 2022 13:30 GMT]:Earlier this month, those who ordered the Turrican Ultra Collector's Edition w/ figurine noticed that the shipping date had moved to May 26th, 2023 without any comment or explanation on social media from the online retailer.
Flash forward a couple of days and now it appears that Strictly Limited Games has finally issued a public statement, in order to try and better explain the reasons for this decision and the issues that have caused this delay.
The statement - posted from the Strictly Limited Games Twitter account - states that because the company was "aiming to get the best possible result", it took "way longer than expected" to ship. It also says that after receiving an early prototype, it "didn't catch the vibe just right", so the company had to revise it.
In the same statement, Strictly Limited Games also blames "the global situation" in part for the delays, as well as the lack of a buffer in their initial planning.
For those unfamiliar, Strictly Limited Games announced the products - featuring a collection of Turrican titles from across various platforms - all the way back in 2020 (as covered on Nintendo Life). It later went on sale in two special editions, including a Collector's Edition, and the Ultra Collector's Edition.
The Collector's Edition started making its way out to customers earlier this year, but those who bought the Ultra Collector's Edition are still having to wait for their orders to ship.
To try and restore confidence, the company has revealed a new image of the figurine in question, which is made out of resin, individually hand-colored, and measures 21cm (8.3 inches) in height. It also confirmed the new date with customers and said that this would be the latest that the figurines will be shipping.

I hate the wait for these Collectors Editions but without companies like this we'd never have them.
I pre-ordered the Taito Milestones Collection this time last year from SLG and only got the notification that it has finally shipped this week.
Good things come to those who wait......and wait .........and wait...
Stuff like this is why I don't bother with any of this.
This is written like it's awesome and I guess it is for these folks that are waiting for their orders but I feel like the tone of this article is a little... off. Like, isn't this more of yet another cautionary tale about the dangers of trusting either companies like SLG or backing things on Kickstarter??
I think it's cool that companies exist that want to produce these limited collector's editions but the lack of oversight for them to deliver on timelines or protections for backers and the fact that you only can "guarantee" yourself a copy because of scalpers means you're forced to submit to said lack of oversight and protections. :/
