During today's Nintendo Direct, GoldenEye 007 was announced for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service as one of the upcoming N64 games. And almost simultaneously on Twitter, its developer Rare confirmed a version of the game with achievements, 4K resolution, and a smoother framerate is coming to Xbox Game Pass.

This will undoubtedly be exciting news for fans of the influential shooter, which is based on the James Bond film of the same name.

When Rare Replay, a collection of 30 of Rare's best games, launched in 2015, GoldenEye 007 was conspicuously missing. And in the intervening years, there have been countless rumors about the game making a return, many of which turned out to be false.

Now it seems that the rights issues holding a rerelease back have finally been put to rest and fans can take on the mantle of 007 yet again. There's no release date for either version yet, but you can check out the trailer released for the Xbox Game Pass reveal below:

What do you make of this news? Are you glad to see Bond back? Let us know in the comments!
