Re: Developer Of New €60 Mega Drive / Genesis Game Accused Of Using Stolen Artwork

Isn't copying the greatest form of flattery? I can understand one wanting to replicate an iconic look from a game, movie etc in their past.

As for the tracing, I have no personal problem with it, but I can understand an artist getting upset by it. Not everyone can produce brilliant works of art without needing some reference. And Kai's games certainly have a measure of amateurishness or derivativeness in them. We're talking about a developer whose first game basically starred Solid Snake and their latest--Blade Runner. What does one expect?

Couldn't they just load 50 Atari games on a DVD and release that? I feel Playmaji could get away with that instead of putting out more hardware. Atari 2600 game carts always look like a gamble whether they would be working or not whenever I see a box of them out in the wild....
Now an Atari jaguar module would be more interesting.

I see no value in this. I would have been interested if this was a pixel art/indie box, but the mobile feel of a lot of these titles doesn't do it for me. The low cost doesn't help either as the budgetness just means none of these games are "must buy." Would rather have more expensive titles if that meant I was getting higher quality games.

Overall it's much better just to save your money for something more worthwhile.

The console itself is really not necessary. With the $250 US buy-in Amico is going to face reluctance with consumers. There's a kickstarter going right now that let's one stream their mobile games from their phone. Why not do something like that?
