Re: "You Might As Well Play On A Raspberry Pi" - The World Of MiSTer FPGA Remains Divided Over "AI Slop" Cores

Kandowontu

If every human made core for mister was currently an IC chip broken down to the logic gate levels, I could see the argument.

But cores have been based on emulation for a long time. Take the SNES core - it started as a BSNES port. Not IC chips. Only with progressive work has it been improved and brought up to speed with logic gate levels for its chips.

People can't decide if they are mad that its AI, that its using MAME based code for chips that haven't been broken down, or that its going to "chase away real developers".

The goalposts are all over the place, and its rediculous.

In the end, its an open device, and people who want more playability can use these cores. They aren't polluting the main update_all, and if they are added eventually, there will likely be a new category such as "MAME Arcade" cores.

Re: Star Fox EX Exploration Showcase Is Available Now

@RetroGames well this is what could have been done if the developers weren’t:
A) under a timetable
B) obligated to finish the project with as little fluff as possible
It’s mostly just a large expansion of starfox with the superfx clock divider off by default, with options and mods that only bored fans could come up with 🤣

Re: Dedicated Romhacker Converts More Than 80 SNES Games Into FastRom

@KingMike Its not 33% faster, its UP TO 33% faster. It is still limited by the rest of the system's clock cycles and 50/60fps. Its still only ~1MHz more so its not as dramatic as SuperFX 21mhz, but its still pretty significant.

@Christopher_Jones I hear from someone who's pretty good at weaponlord that he can actually pull off some of the special moves he couldn't before!
