Nintendo's iconic Game Boy system has proven a valuable source of inspiration for many companies in the modern retro space, with Analogue's Pocket handheld perhaps the most notable clone.
FunnyPlaying, a company which produces aftermarket Game Boy modifications and the tiny Retro Pixel Pocket device, has just teased a new handheld which is compatible with original Game Boy cartridges (thanks, Retro Dodo).
It appears to be similar in size to the aforementioned RetroPixel Pocket and features a D-pad roughly the same size as the one on the original Game Boy DMG-01. It also seems that, in addition to running physical GB and GBC games, you can boot ROMs from an SD card on this device.
There's no word on the final name as yet, but Retro Dodo has speculated that it could be called the Retro Pixel MiniGB – a fair shout, given that the name 'MiniGB' appears on one of the screens FunnyPlaying has supplied.
Outside of that, details are quite thin on the ground – but, given that FunnyPlaying's previous handhelds have been priced around £50, this dinky DMG shouldn't break the bank.
