Dreamcast Title Culdcept II Is Back Online And In English, But The Translation Is AI-Assisted 1

We've seen a host of Dreamcast games go back online in recent times, giving many of the console's more unique titles a chance to fully live up to their potential – and another has joined the list in the form of Culdcept II.

Developed by OmiyaSoft and published by Media Factory, it launched exclusively in Japan on July 12th, 2001. Like every other Dreamcast game, its online functionality was taken down when the console ceased to be commercially viable over 20 years ago, but thanks to the efforts of Shuouma, it can be played online once more.

Shuouma has also translated the game into English, but there's a catch: as reported by Dreamcast Live, the developer is very open about the fact that this is an AI-assisted translation, so don't expect it to be perfect.

Machine-translated projects have come under fire lately due to the fact that they often come riddled with mistakes (as Shuouma appears to have acknowledged here) and lack the nuance and accuracy of human-translated text.

If you're not put off by that revelation, then you can grab the patch here.
