Clever River Games appears to be teasing a re-release of Quintet's SNES RPG Terranigma, which launched on the SNES back in 1995.
Created by a team that includes Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (director, designer and writer), Kamui Fujiwara (artist) and Reiko Takebayashi (writer), Terranigma is part of a series of titles which also includes Soul Blazer and Illusion of Time. It was only released in Europe, with no North American version – this has made it quite a sought-after title.
In a new teaser for the upcoming Pixel Arcadia showcase at Gamescom on August 24th, a voice is heard saying:
"Wake up! All the living things in this world await your awakening."
As anyone who has experienced this amazing game will know, that quote fits the theme of resurrection, which is present in many of Quintet's titles.
At the bottom of the screen is a copyright notice which reads:
"Square Enix / Quintet / Kamui Fujiwara"
Fujiwara is the artist behind the game's characters. He has previously said he would love to see the game return in some form. "I am in favour of remaking the game," he told Nintendo Life back in 2021. "I think that with today's technology, [Ark’s] hair could be represented with its original blue colour, and I would like to do that. Blue is a symbol, it’s the colour of the Earth incarnation."
