A new collection which brings together six titles in Team17's iconic Alien Breed series has just been revealed during the Pixel Arcadia showcase, and it's being published by Commodore International.
Antstream is handling development, the same company behind its subscription-based retro gaming service.
"Celebrate 35 years of isometric sci-fi horror-action with the definitive Alien Breed Collection," says the PR. "Experience the complete library of games, extras and more from the franchise’s first era, all optimised in their original formats for modern devices."
The pack includes Alien Breed (1991), Alien Breed Special Edition '92 (1992), Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues (1993), Alien Breed: Tower Assault (1994), Alien Breed 3D (1995) and Alien Breed 3D II: The Killing Grounds (1996).
Dual Stick and Mouse & Keyboard controls are included, as is local co-op and an online co-op 'Rush' mode. There's also a new Horde mode thrown into the mix, as well as a 'Virtual Museum' with developer retrospectives, art galleries, never-before-seen cancelled games, the soundtrack, Timeline videos, a digital comic and more. The games will also benefit from screen filters, save states, rumble and more.
"Alien Breed will be the first title to be announced by Commodore as a publisher in their new era," adds the PR. The company was recently resurrected by Christian Simpson, and has already released an FPGA-based recreation of the C64. Given that the Alien Breed series owes much of its success to the fact that it started on the Amiga, that's a fitting publisher, if you ask me.
Alien Breed: 35th Anniversary is coming to Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Epic Games Store and GOG.
