Rock It Games, the retro publisher behind Jaleco Sports: Goal! and Jaleco Sports: Base Loaded, has just announced two new sports collections, bringing together even more NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom sports games from the legendary Japanese developer/publisher.
Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded II: Second Season and Jaleco Sports: Goal! Two are both available to purchase now for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, and are currently priced $7.99 / £7.19 on their respective storefronts.
Each collection comes equipped with a selection of retro sports titles to try your hand at, including regional variants, as well as a bunch of emulation-based features that you'd expect from this kind of release. These include a new frontend, a "VHS-style" rewind, CRT-esque screen filters, and the addition of online leaderboards, letting you compete against your friends and other people around the world for the highest score in either runs or goals.
Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded II: Second Season contains two games, spanning five different versions. These include Bases Loaded II: Second Season:
- Moero!! Pro Yakyuu '88 Kettei Ban (Japan/Famicom - 1988)
- Bases Loaded II: Second Season (US/NES - 1989)
And Super Bases Loaded II:
- Super 3D Baseball (Japan/Super Famicom - 1992)
- Super Bases Loaded II (US-SNES- 1994)
- And Hanguk Pro Yagu (Korea/Super Comboy - 1994)
Jaleco Sports: Goal! Two, meanwhile, features three versions of the NES title Goal! Two:
- Goal! Two (US/NES-1989)
- Goal! 2 (Europe/NES-1989)
- Goal! (Japan/Famicom -1989)
That's in addition to the US version of the SNES title Super Goal! 2 (1992).
When it comes to the SNES games, Super Bases Loaded II was notable for including a DSP-1 enhancement chip to allow for 3D-like camera effects, while Super Goal! 2 introduced "strategic options like four defensive formations and more player control" as well as "a side-scrolling field, 24 international teams, instant replays, and full-field radar views."
