I’ve loved every single version of Wipeout, but to play the Omega Collection in full VR… wow. Blew my mind.

Pulse FX350 Edition. I also like the ps2 one that everyone hates. Most Wipeout are basically pretty similar though.

I've only ever played WipEout Pulse and am currently going through Omega Collection.

Wipeout 3 and Pure are my all time favorites

Omega Collection easily, not the least of which because it's one of the best reasons to own a PSVR.

There are plenty of great games in this series, for sure. But Omega Collection just feels like the perfect celebration of all of them — a complete package — and that makes it the clear winner for me.

There are actually two answers to this one. The normal answer is Pure. Fusion isn't just the worst game in the series but one of the most bug-ridden messes on the PS2 that makes Angel of Darkness look like Ocarina of Time. I have an whole article of reasons as to why this game sucks. Pure not only tighted the ship, it still forms the basis of the most recent PS4 rendition. Seeing it running on that big ol' PSP screen was a slice of the future.

The secret best Wipeout is the very rare arcade variant. Think F-Zero AX but 2097 together with a cockpit cabinet of sorts that moved. There is very little information on it online (https://www.highwaygames.com/arcade-machines/wipeout-8041/) but I remember playing it as a teenager at the seaside in the UK.

3 for me and the Omega Collection

1. Wipeout 3 SE
2. Wipeout 2097 (don't call it XL)
3. Wipeout Pure (PSP)

WipEout Pure onwards made the earlier editions irrelevant. It was the first analogue version that got the control right.

I got somehow far on the PS3 Version, but i am generally too dumb for these Games haha

@SoulChimera SERIOUSLY. Unless they're working on a new one (in which case trailer reveal please?), I simply do not understand how they're sleeping on this. PSVR2 has ONE excellent racing game in a genre that is a big VR seller... and that's it. Plus, Wipeout lends itself perfectly to VR and specifically to PSVR2's strengths. Sony is sleeping on this IP so hard it feels like they're taking business advice from Sega.

@UK_Kev Respectfully completely disagree. The control system of the earlier WipEout trilogy was and is still amazing. Pure is great, but I don't revisit it nearly as often as the older titles.

Although gameplay-wise, BallisticNG outdoes both kinds of WipEout, since it has refined and contains each style of gameplay.

The first 2 games were great for their time. But analogue control is just so much better for fast racing games. If you remember, Pure had retro tracks that allowed us to try the older games with the newer control method. Pure had the better control despite using the PSP's single nub.

@UK_Kev The original games did have analog control. Neg-con support for the first two, but Wip3out had full dual-shock support.
The digital controls are great, but the analog control options for the original trilogy are superlative.

The majority of gamers never used a NeGcon. I don't remember trying the first two games with analogue.
I didn't like Wip3out. I can't remember why.
Fusion didn't get the control right. It was too sensitive.
Pure was the third WipEout game I bought after the first two entries.

@UK_Kev You can use analog controls with pretty much any emulator these days, so give it a try if you want!

It took me a while to come around to Wip3out, but when I did, it quickly became my favourite, just piping out 2097 to the post.

To be honest, I really loved Pure when I got it at the PSP launch, but I am not really a fan of the floaty controls these days. The controls are FANTASTIC, they're just not for me. The Pure vibe though, is brilliant. I love its' style, it's got it's own thing going on. Pulse, not so much... never got along with that one for some reason.
