Capcom and Laced Records have together announced a limited release of the original Resident Evil (as reported by the NME).

The triple vinyl set is called 'Resident Evil (1996 Original Soundtrack) + Resident Evil Original Soundtrack Remix' and will launch in limited and standard editions. The standard edition features an outer sleeve with a Cerberus front cover and an obi strip, as well as three-spined inner sleeves. The LPs will also be standard black heavyweight discs.

The packaging for the limited edition, meanwhile, is a bit fancier. It comes with a lift-off box that features the Spencer Mansion atrium on the cover, 12-inch art prints, and an Umbrella-themed slipmat. The LPs also feature gory patterns on the discs.

The first disc in the set will contain the original soundtrack, composed by Akari Kaida, Masami Ueda, and Makoto Tomozawa for the original Resident Evil. The second and third discs, on the other hand, contain tracks from Tomozawa's 1997 album ‘Resident Evil Soundtrack Remix’, which features 34 pieces of music interspersed with dialogue and sound effects. Sadly, there's no sign of the controversial DualShock Version of the soundtrack, composed by Mamoru Samuragochi, which would have been a great ironic purchase for its infamous basement theme.
