Homebrewer and Resident Evil fan "Nocturne" (aka "Notreallyjulian") has uploaded a series of short clips of a fan game based on Zach Cregger's 2026 movie Resident Evil, which, naturally, is itself based on Capcom's iconic and generation-spanning survival horror franchise.

A series of clips uploaded to TikTok showcases a rudimentary recreation of the "Barn Scene", complete with a Cerberus model pulled from the original Resident Evil (1996) and hero Bryan Hodukavich represented via a retextured model of S.T.A.R.S. superboy Chris Redfield. A later video sees Nocturne implementing some of the classic adventure's "Injured" walk cycles, along with some home-recorded speech samples.

According to an X post from fansite RENEWS, Nocturne claimed that no vibe coding has been used in their project, only assets repurposed from RE's classic PlayStation titles. The comments online suspect otherwise; such is the frustratingly unclear timeline that the homebrew community and its projects now exist in.

Released in September, Zach Cregger's Resident Evil has been positively received by critics and fans, with many praising its commitment to gruesomeness as well as its moments of bleak, tongue-in-cheek humour. Actor Austin Abrams received plaudits for his performance as Hodukavich - an out-of-luck medical courier having the single worst day of his life in Raccoon City. To date, the film has pulled in a $360 million box office.

For those who have not seen the film, it's worth noting that the comments under some of Nocturne's TikTok videos contain MAJOR spoilers. Just a (decapitated) heads-up.

Hopefully we'll see more from Resident Evil: The Game of The Movie of The Game soon.
