We recently reported on the surprising number of Castlevania titles that are appearing on retro consoles thanks to the sterling efforts of fans, and it has since been brought to our attention that the NES original has been converted to another vintage platform – the Intellivision.

The name Intellivision has made headlines of late thanks to the Amico, a new console produced under the Intellivision brand after the trademark was revived a few years back. The Amico is in something of a pickle having missed multiple release dates, but let's not dwell on that right now – this story is about Castlevania on the original Intellivision, which came out in 1979.

Dubbed Intellivania, the port is the hard work of Matthew Kiehl, who is also bringing the likes of Dragon Quest, Mega Man 2 and Prince of Persia to the console. This version of Castlevania has been built from the ground up and was recently sold as a boxed physical edition. The good news is that it's now available as a digital download, too, so you can play it via emulation. Let us know if you've tried it out with a comment below.
