Alone In The Dark is one of those truly seminal games which perhaps doesn't get enough credit today. Released before Resident Evil came along and popularised the whole 'survival horror' genre, Frédérick Raynal's 1992 classic was showered with awards at the time of release – but its star has faded over the decades, while Capcom's series has remained insanely popular.

Current IP holder THQ Nordic is currently reimagining the original Alone in the Dark for current home consoles, but Raynal – who has worked on the likes of Little Big Adventure, Time Commando and Soul Bubbles in the years since – is currently at work on a new entry in the Little Big Adventure franchise. Even so, he has still found the time to create a spin-off title for the upcoming The Last Worker video game – and it's for the Playdate handheld.

Called SKEW, the game will star the CoBot, which is voiced by legendary Hollywood actor Jason Isaacs. Outside of a short animation, little else is known about the game, but it seems to be focused around guiding a vehicle down a series of corridors.

The involvement of an industry legend of Raynal's stature is sure to gain plenty of interest, and this is only likely to increase awareness in The Last Worker, which is due to launch on Steam, Meta Quest, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Switch early next year.
