I wish you could’ve asked him the renew his commitment to preservation by actually releasing games that are complete on disc/cart. More and more LRG titles have required updates, some of them fixing significant bugs or adding new features. I played Shadows of the Damned (PS5) recently and it didn’t include a critical patch that fixed frame rate issues. Likewise, lollipop chainsaw has seen several significant updates since its release, none of which were on disc.
Of the limprints, LRG is among the worst when it comes to ensuring patches are included. Personally, id rather just buy a game digitally for $5 -10 on sale over spending $35 for an incomplete game.
I enjoyed this game up until the point my save erased itself - about 20 hours in. Admittedly, I was a broke, freshly graduated college kid who’d just stepped into a recession and was playing a pirated copy. Even today, I’m a little nervous about going back to it even though I own a legit copy.
The game did feel a little rough around the edges though. The lack of battle transitions was odd.

Re: Guide: Best Wonder Boy Games, Ranked By You
I think my order would be:
1) Wonder Boy in Monster World
2) Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
3) Dragon’s Trap
4) Monster World IV
I didn’t get to play Dragon’s Trap until the remake, while Wonder Boy is a childhood fave and my favorite game on the genesis, so it wins easily.
If we’re feeling a little loosely goosey I might swap Super Adventure Island 2 into second place though.
