AI is a valuable new tool that helps small artists. Miller is right. Luddites are wrong. We need more computing power in general to solve major problems, and that will foster green energy as a necessity. That's equitable progress. As for the training issue, the product itself can be made to pay back the artists, but even apart from that kind of legislation, everything made public, even at a cost, "trains" any human artist who looks upon it. This is only a question of speedy mass production, which small artists should be using and celebrating to magnify their own efforts, rather than attempt to maintain a form of individualism that doesn't exist and never existed. Everything humans create is cooperative in some way — your problem is either that you want to eliminate cooperate, which would be childish, or economic unfairness which is your real complaint. Well, yes, everybody has known for a few centuries that mass production and capitalism never mixed well to help the laborer! So our responsibility remains to author successful legislation (maybe with AI help!) that automates a universal distributive standard of living that is equitable, and makes sure fulfilling human activity is always layered above new automation that improves the common welfare.
