Victor Belmont was at least sort of interesting in that he wanted nothing to do with his Belmont heritage, but he got dragged into the battle anyway. I'm sure that would only have factored into cutscenes, if it came up at ALL, but at least the intention was there to do something different.
Ugggggh, locking Return of Death-Adder to this thing... It hurts my soul almost as much as Capcom locking Alien vs. Predator to THEIR personal mini-console.
@superderper Except there is no arcade version. Super GnG is an entirely different beast from Ghouls 'n Ghosts. New levels, new weapons, the works.
@Moroboshi876 They're not remakes in the strictest sense, just extremely formulaic, which is typical of arcade games at the time. "Sir Arthur loses his beloved Prin-Prin to the demons of the Ghoul Realm and has to journey across the landscape (twice) to get her back." Resurrection looks like it's going to be a "best of" sort of compilation of level design and concepts, hence so many scenes looking like lifts of previous games.
The Gargoyle's Quest subseries actually has continuity and such, so there's an ongoing plot to follow there.
Their whole 60th anniversary celebration is just plain weird. First this, and then this week they're putting a couple games on Steam in a way that one-ups the limited run of Mario 3D All Stars a thousand-fold: a vertical slice of an aborted Golden Axe reboot, Yakuza-reskinned Streets of Rage 2, and a Bomberman: Act Zero-esque remake of Fantasy Zone, all only available until the 19th. :

Also, he had a rather slick design. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/castlevania/images/9/98/Victor.jpg
