Re: Talking Point: Does The World Want (Or Even Need) Two Fatal Fury Live-Action Movies?

Fatal Fury might not be a big hitter like SF and MK, but they have better story than both of them combined. I believe one of the selling points for every SNK fighting game is their story, seeing that hardly any fighting game actually gave a damn about storytelling, especially back in their prime. Before ArcSys, SNK did it first, which is how you got cinematic intro and endings for the first AOF (as well as KOF sagas).

Does the world need two Fatal Fury movies? Given their recent notoriety and decrease in relevancy, sure, I doubt the world wants them. Will it be a bad idea to make a live action Fatal Fury movie? Yeah... Might be a big gamble because that depends entirely on whether or not they got the right director and writer to work on the movie (the ones who can find the right balance between making it close to reality while keeping the game elements intact). Given that a SNK game’s strongest point is their storytelling, it’d be no brainer that a Fatal Fury movie with the right director and writer would be a decent game adaptation.

No offense, but the fact that you claimed yourself to be an avid arcade-goer and a fighting game nut while still asking this question is beyond me. If you really like Fatal Fury or any SNK games in that matter, you should’ve known already that one of SNK’s biggest strength back then was their storytelling, and that should tell you why their fanbase cares so much about it (even to the point where many SNK fans I know are praising SNK for having the gut to keep Geese dead in CotW). But yeah, I get it, probably y’all who voted “no” in this article are either KOF stans or not a big fan of the current owner of SNK. Sometimes I wish SNK was never bought by Saudi. Feels like it does them more harm than good. And the fact that Fatal Fury has been front and center since Saudi’s takeover, really makes it look like a symbol of corruption :/
