You know, when Croc 2 released it was compared with a bunch of other platformers that came out around the same time & a load of other extremely impressive games and still sold 500k. Tooie was released in a drought where DK64 was a year old and Conker was half a year away, and still only sold 1.5 million.
Also, Banjo was bundled with the N64, while no PS1 game came bundled with the system. That and Banjo didn't have any real competition either, it was only really compared to Mario 64, while Tooie was compared to Banjo and DK64.
Meanwhile Croc was seen as good but derivative of all of the other PS1 platformers and Croc 2 as solid but overshadowed by all of the other big PS1 platformers.
I don't think Croc is the better game of the two, but it sure as hell is more impressive it and its' sequel sold as well as they did on the Playstation considering how many heavy hitters were out at the time.
