Homebrew developer RetroSync has announced that its GBA-to-Switch trade adapter is nearing completion. The wireless device, once connected to Game Boy Advance hardware, will allow for the trading of Pokémon from the GBA to the Nintendo Switch.

Earlier this month, RetroSync posted video of a rudimentary version of the hardware in operation, with the clip showing open communication between the two Nintendo platforms. The adapter is reportedly compatible with the wireless features found in releases Pokémon FireRed (2004), Pokémon LeafGreen (2004), and Pokémon Emerald (2005).

Beyond being a technologically cool piece of kit, the RetroSync Wireless Adapter is the latest tool in the important task of game preservation, resurrecting vintage games from the Game Boy Advance era while continuing the legacy of players' personal journeys through the Pokémon franchise.

Though no hard date has been set for the adapter's release, RetroSync seems confident it will launch soon and has opened a mailing list for interested Trainers. No price has been announced, but the developer informally mused that it was aiming for a price point of around $50.
