Gleeok?

Earlier today, Nintendo showed off the final pre-release trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (out on the 12th May 2023), and already people are picking it apart for potential clues as to what's in store.

One thing in particular, though, that caught our attention — and other people's too — was the appearance of what looks to be a Gleeok at 3 minutes 20 seconds. If you've ever played the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES, you'll likely know that what we're referring to here is the multi-headed dragon species that appears at the end of that game's fourth dungeon, The Snake.

Gleeoks have made appearances across various pieces of Zelda media in the past (such as in the animated show from DIC), and have also cropped up in other Zelda games too, like Oracle of Seasons and Phantom Hourglass. But they've been missing from mainline Zelda games for a while now, with the Staldra from 2011's Skyward Sword being the most recent appearance of a Gleeok-like enemy.

Now, though, it looks like they're finally set to return, with Link encountering a large three-headed dragon matching their description towards the last few moments of the trailer. We can't wait to find out more about this ferocious-looking creature when the game is out next month. If you want to know how to preorder the game, our friends at Nintendo Life have put together a pretty exhaustive guide with all you need to know.

What do you think? Is this a Gleeok? Or something else entirely? Let us know your thoughts!
