Re: Random: AI Taking Game Industry Jobs Is OK Because Of Pac-Man, Says The New York Times

this is pretty pointless. indie devs have already taken a huge foothold of the industry and its getting bigger, so it doesnt really matter what kind of a.i. slob the big ones want to put out (though the battlefields, maddens etc. will keep their share of fans).

now every single worker at ea, ubi, bungie, rockstar etc. has the ability to quit their work and start working on a game even alone in their basement, or with some buddies, or look for a job in a indie company. this ensures there will be thoughtful and passionately made games far into the future. these people might use a.i. to make their job easier or to make up for competence gaps but they dont have the same "we want to make 1 billion dollars with 1000 dollar investment, dont care what the story or genre is" philosophy like the big ones do so theres really nothing to worry about.

if we dont get good, thoughtful games anymore that just means people have become lazy and no one really wants to do them. thats on the gamers too because nowadays even gamers can become game devs quite easy. i am working on some games too with plenty of passion but same time i cant invest that much time into them
