Just had notification of shipping for mine, after almost giving up on ever seeing it
Very much looking forward to it - it will replace my aging original console with Guncons for lightgun shooters - it'll be a much easier way to load and launch games than mucking about with discs
The NGPC launch lineup (Metal Slug, CFC, Sonic, Pacman, Puzzle Bobble) is still among the strongest launches in gaming in my humble opinion
I think maybe the nuance, in SNK's case at least, is that the portable incarnation of the Neo Geo brand was pretty much the last throw of the dice of a dying brand. SNK's demise was already inevitable at this point and although the NGPC did better than expected (in Europe and Japan at least, I'm not sure it ever had much of a chance in the US) it just wasn't enough to save the company
Yes, I'm still bitter about Aruze
With the 'swan - I loved (and love) mine, but the complete refusal to acknowledge a world outside Japan really didn't help it
For anyone who is interested in a physical release of this and the semi follow up Fruity Pals' Revenge we are producing a small run of carts for both games in the next few months.
If all goes well, then we will continue making them as long at people want them
Anyway, I came here mostly to thank you for covering our game - we're pretty happy with the way it came out and I hope your readers get some enjoyment from it

@BionicDodo There are some on AliExpress - four buttons but otherwise the same shell and joystick. Not cheap though at £300 or so
I think either Raspberry Pi or Android powered - I haven't looked into them too closely
