I remember when the Saturn core passed all the tests to show it was as good as the real thing and the developer went and said: No, it's not, still plenty of work to do.
Jotego has an open ticket where his CPS2 core runs faster than real hardware or the various emulated versions of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo over the years, to the point where the timer is multiple numbers away.
Cosmo Police Galivan mister core doesn't even display the whole screen properly and the dev just abandoned it.
The things I've heard about coin op collection...
I don't think many with knowledge of the scene were expecting cycle accurate and that bit of marketing was two thirds down their page and hardly hammered into us by a company whose communication strategy involves endless GBA GIFs posted on their Twitter.
As a consumer I don't feel offended. There was a single "100%" claim, that was compatibility and was clarified as being officially licensed games, and that works, I can play Rogue Squadron without noticeable issues as an end user.
But hey, FPGA drama. Insert Scots ruined Scotland gif here. At least this one doesn't involve harassment this time.
Can Vaporware truly go up in smoke? It would be nice to see a genuine next gen "open" FPGA, following on from the beefed up FPGA that the 3D apparently has and more logic elements being available at an affordable price point, but the conduct of a few of these team members to the likes of Jotego and Pixel Cherry Ninja and more really put me off anything they have and would have put out.
