@willstancilfan so which company would be incintivized by profit to port a nintendo game to pc? Who had stepped up to do this in their spare time to do this?
Its a fan hobby project. What if the dev had used local llms, self trained? Written by hand? You sound like the photographers that said photoshop was slop, the play writes that said cinema was slop, the scribes that yelled at printers.
The cotton gin lead to incredible amounts of suffering, and that is horrible but it wasn't the cotton gin itself that did it. It was those who had power that used it to do so.
@RootsGenoa They didn't do it the wrong way, this is definitely a better, more useful way to use AI than tiktok slop and replacing workers. Having such a rigid outlook ignore the problems with industry, and capitalism as a hole while arguing that a tool, in itself, is evil. AI can be implemented in a way where it doesn't use oceans worth of fresh water or abuse creatives and coding is a great example. Your argument is like blaming screwdrivers for the existence of tanks and bombs.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. You're pointing at a red hot door know while not putting out the house fire. Ffs.
