I wish the reporters on time extension would keep their personal opinions to themselves and report unbiased information. Y’Know, like professional reporters are supposed to. I’m at the point where I’m about to stop visiting this site because they try to start a witch-hunt every time AI is involved in a story. It’s getting tiring.
Christ, as someone who is apposed to AI, you sound exactly like I thought you would. I’m fully aware of how it works and it’s supposed issues but as an early adopter and someone who’s fascinated by new tech, I simply do not care. The ethics and issues will be sorted out at some point, maybe? But we could say the same thing about robotics and automation within many industries that have reduced jobs over time. I used to employ around 35 staff in production line work and believe me, if a company came forward with a way of replacing those people at a sensible cost, I would have done it in a heartbeat. People/staff simply have too many issues in the workplace.
I can’t wait to have realtime “ai overlays” on classic games to give them a new gloss.
Totally agree with the dev, it’s a tool to assist creativity and definitely the correct way to use it. We have too many knee-jerk reactions to AI, disregarding it without looking at how it’s actually used. At what point does someone decide AI is unacceptable? For example, it an artist used generative expand in photoshop because they needed a bit more width or height to their canvas, do they then get thrown under the bus? The modern world is way too sensitive. Learn to work with it in the correct way or get left behind in the dust.
Well done for being transparent and going with his gut feelings for his project. Perhaps he doesn’t want to deal with other people for his project (egos and opinions may get in the way of the results he wants and it would obviously slow the project down a lot).
We need to stop instantly dismissing projects using AI. Even the reports/stories on this website forces its opinions about AI onto the reader. They should remain neutral and report unbiased articles.
Good luck to him!
I wish people would just move on from hating AI. Accept that you have to adopt it or get left behind because this simply isn’t going away - it can save the big corporations way too much money for them to ignore. I can’t wait until we have an “ai overlay” that can make these old 8/16-bit games looks like the “unreal engine” screenshots I keep seeing.
