Following Alien Breed Success And James Pond Criticism, Antstream's Studio Head Mike Rouse Is Leaving The Company 1

Subscription-based streaming service Antstream has made headlines recently for both good and bad reasons.

On the positive side of things, the company brought the excellent Alien Breed 35th Anniversary to modern-day systems, while on the negative side, it has become embroiled in a messy public spat with System 3 over its apparent misuse of GenAI in The James Pond Legacy.

Amid this backdrop, Antstream studio head and development director Mike Rouse has announced he will leave the company after more than five years.

"I’m wrapping up my time at Antstream at the end of the year and couldn't be prouder to cap things off with Alien Breed 35th Anniversary, which just launched with a 90% from Retro Gamer," says Rouse in a post on Linkedin. "I’m excited for whatever comes next!"

According to Rouse's profile, he held "full accountability" for Antstream's "creative direction, strategic planning, and talent management." He has previously held senior roles at PlayStation, Xbox, RedSix, Ubisoft and 2K Games.

In addition to his work at Antstream, Rouse also runs the YouTube channel Retro Gamer Boy, which we've featured in the past on this very site.

Antstream's work on the James Pond collection came under fire for its use of Generative AI assets, something that System 3 boss Mark Cale says he was misled about. It launches later this year.
