We Love Katamari Reroll

As recently highlighted by the YouTuber Caddicarus on Twitter, Google has been hiding a Katamari mini-game and people are only now finding out that it exists.

If you search "Katamari" on Google and tap the ball next to where it says the title of the game on the right side of your screen, you will unlock a cool minigame where you can roll up the text and images onscreen using the arrow keys. It even works on mobile phones too, using your phone's touch controls. Obviously, this bite-sized version of the game isn't the deepest variation of Katamari available, but should you find yourself bored and looking for something to do, it's a fun, little time waster.

It's unknown when the feature was first added to the page, but considering We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie was released at the beginning of this month it's fairly unsurprising that people are just now realizing that it exists.

We did a quick Google search to try and find out more about its origin and didn't turn up much, except for some info on an extension called "Katamari Anything" from Tyler Smith that features a very similar premise and was released a few years ago on September 18th, 2020. This itself was apparently inspired by an even earlier extension, called Kathack, which has been floating around the internet since 2011.

We have to imagine these were the inspiration for this small yet enjoyable addition.
