Revenge Of The 'Gator is one of the earliest Game Boy pinball games, but it has stood the test of time surprisingly well – thanks in no small part to the fact that it's the work of the talented people at HAL.

If you're a fan of this particular game, then you might be interested to learn that it has just received a huge upgrade, thanks to the modder MojoDodo.

Revenge Of The 'Gator Gold is a ROM hack which not only adds a splash of colour to the game, but also makes it run faster (with no slowdown) and allows you to save your high scores. There are also a few bug fixes thrown in for good measure, too.

You can download the hack here. You'll need to apply it to the original ROM for it to work.

Our friends over at Nintendo Life gave the game 7/10, saying:

Revenge of the 'Gator may lack the refinements showcased by modern pinball games, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored if you're a fan of the genre. The simplistic nature of the tables means you can give high-score chasing your full, undivided attention without being waylaid by distractions, and the ball physics are respectable enough to ensure you don't lose any games through anything but your own fault. HAL's effort may have been improved upon in recent years, but it's still an appealing and addictive pinball outing.
