Bitwave has announced that its 'Toaplan Arcade Collection' project has been pushed into 2023.
The publisher has secured the rights to release arcade versions of four of Toaplan's most popular titles: Out Zone, Truxton, Twin Cobra and Zero Wing.
The aim had been to release them this year, but they have now slipped into 'early 2023'. Bitwave says this will give it time to polish the titles even further, adding in 'quality of life' improvements such as quick saves and achievements.
Originally founded way back in 1979, Toaplan is famous for its shooter titles, including Slap Fight, Flying Shark, Hellfire, Tiger Heli and Batsugun. It also created the platformer Wardner and the Bubble Bobble-like Snow Bros. Toaplan was disbanded in 1994, and many of its staff formed other studios, including Tamsoft, Eighting, CAVE, Gazelle, and Takumi.
