@16Bit_HD_Graphics Tons of people play 16 bit online. Also way more projects exist than just Fightcade. You have Arkadzyja, RetroArch, heck N64 just got rollback netplay. You can boot up RetroArch and browse lobbies on SNES, Genesis etc right this instant.
@HammyHavoc To my understanding they just set up the website but the discord had been around for 2 years. They have this whole matchmaking system for all retro consoles. I've played some Fightcade stuff, mega drive, and PS1 there.
This is cool but being only only focused on new games with online is indeed gonna be a tough sale like HoyeBoye said above.
Honesty everyone who wants to play old games online should check out this project called RetroOnlineMatchmaking.
They have a website that is starting to come online. The discord tho is what needs to be seen, With this neat bot system, online offline hours, console selection, auto threads etc. It is truly amazing.
Plus I had no clue so many ways to play online existed today. You can basically already play everything online via emu.
