Shameful. Kate's video has less than 10,000 views. If they are using images from the video as reference, I imagine they're using information as well... Not giving any credit to Kate is basically stealing from her. It's also a total disservice to all the people whose research was used to create her video (of which there are many).
This interview has been translated for several years, but I'm glad it's getting attention anyway.
The senior employee mentioned by Kojima is probably Naoki Matsui, who in another interview is mentioned as one of his two mentors at Konami, and the one that convinced management to give Kojima's version of Metal Gear a chance (I think it was titled "Intruder" back then).
CWX and Sam's group are certainly being petty... But the "mediocre" translation that Eadmaster is using is actively being made worse by the translator he recruited. Their grasp of the English language is quite poor.
I mean, look at these absolutely horrible pull requests:
It's definitely similar, but not 100% the same. If they are truly the same image, then maybe the in-game texture was manipulated? That would be a strange choice for an image nobody was meant to pay attention to, but possible nonetheless.
Love this book. It's almost entirely raw interview material, arranged beautifully and properly contextualized with footnotes. On the surface, it's just a clean & condensed version of the author's first three books, but the editor was clever and rearranged the contents into a chronological order of sorts, starting with stories from the late 70s and ending with those from the early 90s. This is an excellent gateway to understanding how games were made in 20th century Japan.
That cover art is AI generated, has typos, and also just looks horrible... So I'm not surprised that the game's sprites were ripped straight from Metal Gear. The varying art styles displayed in that trailer make me wonder if AI art was used in more than just the cover. Certainly not worth a $60 physical release in this state.
I'm also skeptical if the game itself will be any good. The enemies are clearly shooting blindly and can hardly follow the player. Maybe the game is still under development, but what's been shown so far is pretty lackluster.
