Ace Attorney shows that localization - from Japanese to American English - is in fact an underrated art form. The simple truth is nowadays artists have no incentive to localize their works when many fans of Japanese content today are perfectly fine with reading subtitles and applying their own knowledge of Japanese culture and custom to understand a piece of art. However, part of what makes Ace Attorney special is that it shows that putting in effort to make Japanese content accessible to the entire English-speaking world can actually improve the base product. I don’t think the AA series would be as awesome if it didn’t have the ridiculous merger of Tokyo and LA that makes no sense at all lol.
